Sam Roman grew up in a family obsessed with the arts. Music, writing, painting, crafts- she was encouraged to do it all.
Frequent trips to museums made her hungry to make things of her own, and after-school activities like poetry clubs, art clubs, and theater made her certain art was the path she wanted to follow.
After attending Bennington College in Vermont, Sam was determined to make sure her life was filled with the act of creation every chance she got. Of course, like so many, she had to work a full time job to support herself (and her cat), but she found time every single day to knit, to draw, to write...to make something that hadn't existed before.
She has had paintings in galleries across the country since 2008 and been featured in publications since 2012, but has been working mostly freelance for the last decade. Her professional work is flexible based on her client's needs, whether it be tattoos or logos or character designs, but her personal work is driven by the sheer need to make things: she often comes up with complex worlds and the people to populate them, just for fun. She is forever inspired by 90's anime, Disney/Western animation, and the works of her peers. She hopes to one day distinguish herself as someone whose original characters are enjoyed and beloved by people other than herself.
You can most often find her knitting, sketching on her iPad, or sleeping, usually covered in cat fur.
